Day 1 - Arrival & Sightseeing in Reykjavík

On arrival at Keflavik Airport, you will be welcomed by a driver and transferred to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, take the opportunity to explore the vibrant city centre at you own pace. The main downtown street, Laugavegur, offers a variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, coffee houses and bars to suit all tastes—all within an easy walk.

Day 2 - Waterfalls & Volcanoes of the South Coast

This morning you and your fellow travellers will be picked up by your guide. The first leg of our journey is along the south coast, with a stop at the fairy tale-like Seljalandsfoss waterfall—the only of its kind in Iceland where you can walk behind the cascade on a footpath.

Then our focus shifts to geology, first with a visit to the Volcano Visitor Centre at the Þorvaldseyri farm, where you can learn about the infamous 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption and its impact on the local residents.

Spend the night in the Vík area. 

Note: the walk behind the cascade at Seljalandsfoss is weather dependant.

Day 3 - Skaftafell & the Glacier Lagoon

This is a day to have your camera ready! Today’s drive takes us to some of Iceland’s most photogenic attractions, starting with a visit to the beautiful Skaftafell area of Vatnajökull National Park, named for Iceland’s largest glacier.

After lunch, our journey continues to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, famous for its floating icebergs in shades of milky white and bright blue. On a clear day, you may even get a good view to Breiðamerkurjökull glacier behind the lake.

Enjoy a group dinner (either buffet or set menu) with your fellow travellers.

Spend the night in the Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.

Day 4 - Black Sand Beaches & Mountain Views

Today we will focus our attention on the volcanic black sand beaches near the village of Vík í Mýrdal. One of the highlights here is the 120 metre-high promontory of Dyrhólaey with its spectacular rock arch, bird cliffs and amazing views. You can also get some great photos with the unique Reynisdrangar basalt columns rising out of the ocean.

Further along we will visit the magnificent 60 metre free-falling Skógafoss waterfall. Nearby at the Skógar folk museum, you have some time to browse the replica turf farm and the many interesting fishing and farming artefacts on display inside. From there, the journey takes us past the beautiful Eyjafjöll mountain range towards our evening destination.

Day 5 - The Golden Circle & Return to Reykjavik

On the way back to the capital city today, our journey takes us around the “Golden Circle”, a popular route containing some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland. Highlights include the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park, the hot springs at the Geysir geothermal area and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. We will also pay a short visit to a geothermally-heated greenhouse at the Friðheimar tomato farm.

Back in Reykjavik, enjoy the rest of the evening as you wish after being dropped off at your hotel.

Day 6 - Departure

When it’s time to depart, you will be picked up from the hotel for your airport transfer by coach bus about three hours before your flight. If you’re flying in the afternoon, you have the option of visiting the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa to relax in the warm mineral waters before continuing onwards to the airport.

If you are interested in extending your stay, we can book extra nights and activities in the Reykjavík area or even combine this tour with a visit to Greenland or other Nordic destinations.

Fosshotel Lind

Fosshotel Lind is centrally located in Reykjavík, near Laugavegur, the city’s main shopping street. The neighbourhood has numerous restaurants, cafés, shops and interesting museums, and art galleries can be found just around the corner. Fosshotel Lind was renovated in 2014 and now features special design rooms.

Icelandair Hotel Vík

The new Icelandair Hotel in Vík offers simple elegance with modern trimmings. The 36 rooms, some with a sea view, are decorated to reflect the village’s natural surroundings and include a TV, coffee and tea set, private WC and toiletries. Other hotel amenities include free Wi-Fi, a spacious lobby bar and Restaurant Berg featuring an a la carte menu.

Hotel Laki

Hotel Laki has 64 rooms, all with ensuite WC, free Wi-Fi, phone and TV, as well as separate cottages for 2 - 3 people with cooking facilities and private bathrooms. There is also a dining hall, bar and golf course onsite. Set in the beautiful countryside of South Iceland, the hotel is near Skaftafell, Jökulsárlón, Ingólfshöfði and other natural attractions.

Fosshotel Hekla

Fosshotel Hekla, situated close to Mt. Hekla in South Iceland, is surrounded by some of Iceland’s most stunning sights. Eyjafjallajökull volcano and Fimmvörðuháls are close by, as well as beautiful hiking trails along the Golden Circle destinations.The highlands of Landmannalaugar, Kjölur and Sprengisandur are within an easy reach and – depending on the season and the weather – the area is great for spotting the spectacular Northern Lights.

  • Keep in mind that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
  • The flashlights provided at the northern lights hut are for navigating in the dark. Blankets and warm drinks will also be offered to help you keep warm.
  • Included in your package are 2 evening dinners when staying outside Reykjavik. Menus are set menus or buffets. Your guide will inform you about the menus and dinner time each day. Lunches are not included but you will be stopping at locations where you can buy your own lunches.
  • You should bring windproof/waterproof outerwear and plenty of warm layers for the outdoor activities. The winter climate in Iceland is generally mild compared to other northern European countries, but the temperatures drop below freezing at times.

After booking a holiday package with, you will be contacted by email within two working days by your designated travel consultant, who will assist with your booking and serve as your point of contact for any travel needs during your stay. The email will include the full name and direct contact information for your travel consultant along with information about your booking, payment and what to expect during your holiday.

Booking of at least four weeks prior to departure is recommended.
