Day 1: Blue Lagoon & Tastes of the SeaOn arrival to Keflavík Airport in Iceland, collect your rental car and head to the first highlight of your tour: The Blue Lagoon, where you can soak in the soothing geothermal waters to unwind after your flight. From there, drive to Hveragerði, a year-round horticultural center that operates on geothermal energy, and onwards to Selfoss, where you will stay for the next two nights.In the evening, we recommend a visit to the seaside town Stokkseyri for an exquisite lobster feast. If conditions are right, you may even see the the northern lights--the hotel staff can inform you about viewing conditions each night. Driving distance: 115 km / 71 miles. Spend the night in Selfoss area. |

Day 2: Icy Waterfalls & Volcanic BeachesDrive to the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, looking their best in their winter coats surrounded with snow and icicles. On the way, you'll pass the infamous yet captivating Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Near Skógar, you can also follow a walking path up to the edge of Sólheimajökull glacier where it descends from the highlands.Continue onwards to the charming village of Vík, famous for its black sand beaches of Reynisfjara and the rock formations of Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar off the coast. In the evening, we recommend a visit to the hotel's Riverside Spa or a dinner at the excellent hotel restaurant. Driving distance: 260 km / 161 miles. Spend another night in Selfoss area. |

Day 3: Golden Circle & Thermal BathsBegin your day with a short drive from Selfoss to the dormant caldera of Kerið and onwards to the majestic Gullfoss waterfall. Then visit the one-and-only Geysir at the Haukadalur geothermal area. The next stop is Laugarvatn, an unusual lake with subsurface hot springs.We also recommend a stop at the Fontana thermal baths before heading to Þingvellir, where you can walk around the National Park's ancient assembly grounds and see the continental rift. After arriving in Reykjavik and settling in at your accommodation, take a walk around the historic city center and visit some of the city's attractions. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at one of the excellent restaurants the city has to offer. Driving distance: 190 km / 118 miles. Spend the night in Reykjavik. |

Day 4: DepartureToday, it’s time to head home after this wonderful break in South Iceland. If your flight is in the afternoon, spend the morning exploring more of the city, perhaps with a visit to one of assorted museums, cafes and shops.
