Day 1

After a “meet and greet” at Keflavik Airport, you are transferred to your hotel in central Reykjavík. After settling in, you have some free time for a leisurely stroll around the city centre before a short information meeting with your guide later in the afternoon. In the evening, enjoy dinner on your own at one of Reykjavik’s fine restaurants.

Day 2

The first leg of the journey takes you to one of the most popular tourist routes in Iceland, The Golden Circle, which includes stops at some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland. Sights include Þingvellir National Park, the great Geysir at the Haukadalur geothermal area, and the stunning Gullfoss waterfall. Spend the night in the Hvolsvollur area.

Day 3

Today we start by visiting two picture-perfect waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss, before a short break at the nearby Skógar Folk Museum to view some interesting artefacts and old turf farm buildings. Then we drive to Vík, a village set near a gorgeous black volcanic beach. This is an ideal location for viewing the prominent rock formations of Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar. Spend the night in the Skaftafell area.

Day 4

We spend the morning exploring the Skaftafell area, a nature lover’s paradise with its variety of hiking routes (optional). Next, we continue on to the breathtaking Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, where we zigzag through the maze of floating icebergs with a guided boat tour (included in package). Finally, we head towards our night’s accommodation in the Djúpivogur area on Iceland’s southeast corner near Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier.

Day 5

As we drive through the spectacular East Fjords towards Egilsstaðir, notable sights along the way include the majestic Mt. Búlandstindur and the charming fishing village of Stöðvarfjörður. Once we reach North Iceland, prepare to be amazed by the unique landscapes of Lake Mývatn and its moon-like surroundings, including Námaskarð pass and the Skútustaðagígar pseudo craters. Spend the night in the Lake Mývatn area. NOTE! This is a long day of travelling and sightseeing.

Day 6

Today, we head to Húsavík, a lovely coastal village renowned for its excellent whale-watching tours, but first we pay a visit to the stunning Jökulsárgljúfur National Park north of Lake Mývatn. Here, attractions include the Ásbyrgi canyon and Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Later in the afternoon, you can enjoy some free time the afternoon in Húsavík.* Spend the night in the Húsavík area. *Optional: Whale-watching tour from Húsavík.

Day 7

Leaving the beautiful area of Mývatn, we visit Goðafoss waterfall on our way to Akureyri, Iceland’s second largest city and the “Capital of North Iceland”. This charming city is full of life in the summertime, so we are sure to be busy during our short break here! We then head towards the north-western part of Iceland for an overnight stay.

Day 8

Today, we complete our loop around Iceland and return to Reykjavik. Along the way, our stops include Deildartunguhver, the most voluminous hot spring in Europe, the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls, and the historic site of Reykholt. In the evening, after checking in to our hotel in central Reykjavik, the night is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 9

All good things must come to an end! When it’s time to say goodbye to beautiful Iceland, our guide will pick up the group at the hotel in time for departure check-in at Keflavik Airport. *Optional: Add a visit to the Blue Lagoon spa if the departure flight is in the afternoon. This can also be added to arrival day for early arrivals at Keflavík Airport.
